“Engineered microlens arrays provide new control for display and lighting applications, ”
Photonics Spectra, 38(6), June 2004.
Summary
Engineered diffusers™ are a new diffuser and beam-shaping technology that provides significant performance enhancements for applications such as general beam homogenization, displays, solid-state lighting, lithographic systems, backlighting, and projection screens. This paper illustrates some of the capabilities of Engineered diffusers™ and their application to light control with lasers and LED light sources.

Structured microlens arrays for beam shaping,
Optical Engineering 42(11), November 2003.
Summary
This paper illustrates the use of Engineered diffusers™ for laser beam shaping, diffusion, and homogenization, showing the ability to perform complex beam shaping tasks. Both intensity profile and spatial distribution are controlled with high efficiency (mostly limited by surface losses) and without the presence of artifacts such as zero order. Applications include excimer laser beam shaping, display screens, light-control films, and illumination.
Engineered Diffusers™ – Intensity vs Irradiance
Summary
RPC Photonics Engineered Diffusers™ are most commonly specified by their divergence angle and intensity profile. This white paper briefly reviews the specification of intensity and irradiance profiles, and how these may be measured.

Illumination with Engineered Diffusers™
Summary
RPC Photonics’ Engineered Diffusers™ can be customized to spread an input beam in general fashion, depending on the operating conditions and application requirements. In this note we review some of the typical ways the light distribution is defined and two common illumination conditions, versus angle and at a screen.
