HiLAM (Lambertian) Diffusers
Lambertian diffusers are important in several applications such as wide-angle illumination and calibration purposes.
The prototypical Lambertian diffuser in transmission is opal glass, which has very low transmission ~20%.
Using its Engineered Diffuser™ technology RPC Photonics has developed a highly-efficient Lambertian diffuser assembly, HiLAM, with transmission over 70%.
The HiLAM diffuser is made of two identical Engineered Diffusers™ that when working together produce the usual Lambertian scatter profile, which has a cosine dependence in angle corresponding to constant radiance with angle.
Our standard size HiLAM diffuser is currently offered as polymer replicas on glass through Thorlabs.
